Artist's Comments

Yesung from the Korean boy band Super Junior. The reference picture I used was taken from their Sorry Sorry Version A album. I'm currently working on a project involving the members of KRY in their most recent styles. I wanted to wait until it's done, but since it's been weeks since I last worked on Kyuhyun, I'm uploading this one and Ryeowook ([link]) now ^^;. Summer makes me lazy :(

Anyway, I quite like how this one turned out. There're no real noticeable outlines and I think all the grey values blend nicely. Unfortunately, his pose looks kind of awkward because of where I chose to cut off the original picture and because I made his neck too long. I also probably should have made some of the shadows on his face darker. Maybe I'll go back and fix it...:shrug: We'll see.

You did succeed at having no visible outline, which is always good on realistic drawings. The blending I think needs to be smoothed out more, it's too scratchy. Also shine in the hair would make it look more realistic. Also try to avoid the up and down stroke motion. Start from the top then go down and the repeat. I know this takes more time but it will look better in the end. The teeth look really nice and it's really well drawn other wise. Just need to work more on your blending and shading really. :)

Thanks for the input. :) I'll keep that in mind if I go back and fix it. And there was no shine on his hair in the ref, only small darker sections (like by his neck).

Oh, no shine at all. Even in the dark there is usually shine. oh well. :shrug:
